Who is Sokullu Mehmet Pasha?
Tavil, whose real name is Bayo Sokolovic; Sokullu Mehmet Pasha, born in 1505 - October 11, 1579) is an Ottoman statesman who was appointed as the Grand Vizier after being the Captain of the Ottoman Navy during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent and then served as the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman State for 14 years during the reigns of Selim II and Murad III.
He is considered one of the most important Ottoman grand viziers both because he symbolizes the period when the Ottoman Empire was at its peak, and thanks to his actions, projects and personality. He was extremely majestic with a height of 2 meters 14 cm. He was martyred by a Serbian assassin on October 11, 1579.
