Who is Şahinşah? (Anatolian Seljuk sultan)
Şahinşah or Melikşah Sultan of Anatolian Seljuk State (1107-1116). He is the eldest son of Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Kılıç Arslan I. It should not be confused with Melikşah, the ruler of the Great Seljuk State.
After his father was killed in the Mosul campaign, he was taken to Isfehan as a prisoner of the Great Seljuk Sultan; Three years later, he got rid of and tried to reorganize the Anatolian Seljuk State, based in Konya. Şahinşah, who took advantage of the turmoil in the country and tried to take back the lands captured by the Byzantine Empire, was killed at the end of the throne struggle with his brother Mesud, who was the groom of the Danishmend Principality and got their support.
